Types of ACM Based on Fire Resistance:
PE Core (Polyethylene core)
NOT fire-resistant
Highly flammable; banned in some countries for use on high-rise buildings
Used in signage and interiors, not recommended for building facades
FR Core (Fire-Resistant core)
Contains mineral fillers (like magnesium hydroxide) mixed with polyethylene
Improved fire performance, meets many fire codes for facades
Used in low- to mid-rise buildings
A2 Core (Non-combustible core)
Mostly inorganic minerals, very low organic content
Achieves EN 13501-1 A2 fire rating (European standard), which is near non-combustible
Highest level of fire safety for ACM, suitable for high-rise buildings
